Beschreibung:
Two PhD positions are available at the Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön in the newly established junior research group for Theoretical Biology. The group is funded by the Emmy-Noether program of the DFG. We develop mathematical models for biological systems, ranging from the evolution of cooperation to mathematical models for cancer development.

We are looking for candidates with a diploma in physics or an equivalent degree, with an interest in theory, who are motivated to work in an interdisciplinary environment between biology, physics and applied mathematics.

The Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology (former MPI for Limnology) is located in Plön, a small town in a beautiful postglacially shaped landscape with all the amenities of a touristically active area.

The Baltic sea and the major cities Kiel and Lübeck are only 30 minutes away. The working language at the institute is English. The independent junior research group will be established in addition to the departments of Evolutionary Ecology (Prof. Dr. Milinski) and Evolutionary Genetics (Prof. Dr. Tautz).
