A three-year PhD position in Economics funded through an ARC Discovery
Grant is available (aprox. A$20K p.a.). The position's focus will be
to undertake survey work of employers and workers related to the
project in regional and urban areas in Australia. The successful
candidate will also use the survey data to analyse the patterns and
determinants of remittances among different categories of migrant workers.
The study will form a central part of the candidate's PhD thesis at
The University of Queensland. The project team consists of Associate
Professor Richard Brown and Dr. Gareth Leeves and will include others.
Commencement
The candidate is expected to start in early 2009
Eligibility
The candidate should have a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours
in Economics or a closely related field of studies (a good background
in econometrics/statistical analysis is required). Some
knowledge/experience of survey work would be desirable and an interest
in labour and/or development economics.
