A three year fixed-term position of Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) in natural product chemistry/chemical ecology is available from July 2009. The position is funded by a multidisciplinary Australian Research Council Linkage grant.
The position is a joint appointment between the School of Biology and the Research School of Chemistry. The new Postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary team to conduct high quality research on the natural product chemistry and the chemical ecology of obligate orchid-wasp pollinator interactions including the development of synthetic methods for the preparation of novel organic volatile compounds.
Experience in GC-MS analysis and interpretation, NMR and other analytical procedures for natural product identification and in the development of synthetic methods is essential. Experience with plant volatiles and GC-EAD is highly desirable.
An excellent record of publication in the field of natural product chemistry and/or chemical ecology and demonstrated willingness to work as a team and to co-supervise research students is essential.
