2013- 2014 Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Citizens in Romania

Romanian Government has announced 85 scholarships for international (Non EU) students. These scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romania. Though the requests for all fields will be accepted but priority will be given to students applying for political and administrative sciences, education studies, Romanian culture and civilization, journalism, technical studies, oil and gas, agricultural studies, veterinary medicine, architecture and arts. The scholarships will cover tuition fees and accommodation charges. It will also provide a monthly amount which varies according to the levels of study. To avail this opportunity, applicants must sent their application files to the Romanian diplomatic missions in such a way that they can be registered at MAE DDPCS by 15 February 2013.

Study Subject(s): Priority will be given to the candidates applying for: political and administrative sciences, education studies, Romanian culture and civilization, journalism, technical studies, oil and gas, agricultural studies, veterinary medicine, architecture, arts. Requests for other fields will also be taken into account.
Course Level: The scholarships are granted for three levels of study:
-for the first cycle (licenta): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of high schools or of equivalent pre-university systems, as well as to candidates who require the equivalation of partial studies and the continuation of their studies in Romania.
-for the 2nd cycle (master): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of university/post graduate studies.
-for the 3rd cycle (doctorate): This scheme is dedicated to the graduates of university/postgraduate studies (i.e. master).
Scholarship Provider: Romanian Government
Scholarship can be taken at: Vietnam, Switzerland Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

Eligibility: Citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence). Priority is given to citizens from non EU states with which Romania does not have cultural and education cooperation agreements. Foreign citizens of Romanian origin and those belonging to the neighboring historic Romanian communities benefit from other scholarship programmes offered by the Romanian state.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence) can apply for the scholarships.

Scholarship Description: 85 scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romania, by means of selection of application files organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports (MECTS), in keeping with Romanian current legislation.MECTS will issue (between 15-39 May) a Letter of Acceptance to Study in Romania for the successful candidates. This letter will mention also the supplementary preparatory year compulsory for learning the Romanian language (if applicable) and the academic institution/ institutions where the courses will take place.

Number of awards offered: 85 scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies are available.

Duration of award(s): The monthly amount is granted to the students of the 1st (licenta) and 2nd (master) cycle throughout the whole academic year, the winter and spring vacation included, but not during the summer vacation. For full-time students of the 3rd cycle (doctorate), the monthly amount is granted throughout the whole calendar year.

What does it cover? The scholarship consists of :
-free-of-charge tuition,
-free-of-charge accommodation (depending on availability, accommodation will be offered free-of-charge in students hostels, in keeping with the higher education regulations),
-financial support – a monthly amount representing :
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 65 EURO per month, for the under-graduate students (1st cycle),
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 75 EURO per month, for post-graduate students (master degrees and specialization) 2nd cycle,
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 85 EURO per month, for post graduate students (doctor's degree) 3rd cycle.
These scholarships do not cover food, international and local transport. The candidates must be prepared to support personally any other additional expenses.

Selection Criteria: The selection criteria are: the candidates' competence (former scholar performances, mentioned in his/her study papers) and the chosen priority field of study.

Notification: The MAE board makes the first selection between 15 and 20 March 2013. By 1 April 2013, MAE sends to MECTS the selected files. The MECTS Board meets in April 2013 to make the final selection and will send list of successful candidates by 30 April 2013. The selection results will be announced by 30 May to each diplomatic missions that submitted application files.

How to Apply: To get all necessary information about the scholarships (conditions, necessary documents, enrolment calendar) and to submit their application files, the candidates should apply directly to :
-the Romanian diplomatic missions accredited to the candidate's country of origin or of residence or to
-the diplomatic mission of candidate's state of origin accredited to Bucharest.
Application files submitted by post or directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) or to the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports (MECTS), as well as application files received after the announced deadline will not be taken into consideration.

The Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) at the
University of Sheffield has a studentship available for a candidate to
start from September 2013.

The award covers fees (UK/EU or Overseas) and a full stipend at the

years full-time or six years part-time study, subject to satisfactory

How to apply

Person Specification
Successful candidates will be admitted to the MPhil/PhD programme in

Institute of Global Health Innovation PhD Programme 2013

Imperial College London's Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI)
is pleased to announce the next round of PhD Studentships. The
Institute is working to improve the health of people and reduce health
inequalities throughout the world.

By channelling Imperial's interdisciplinary and pioneering research
strengths across its faculties and Business School, the Institute aims

PhD Studentship in Mathematics University of Bristol -School of Mathematics

The University of Bristol invites applications for a fully funded 42
Month PhD Studentship in Mathematics commencing 1 October 2013,
working with Professor Tim Browning on his ERC funded project
Frontiers of Analytic Number Theory And Selected Topics (FANTAST).

The studentship includes an annual stipend at EPSRC rates (currently
£13,590 p.a.), and covers the University's tuition fees for EU or
overseas students. Applicants are expected to hold a first class
honours degree, or international equivalent, in Mathematics. There are
no restrictions on nationality.

The School of Mathematics has about 95 members of academic staff from
over 24 countries covering three areas of mathematics research, and an
international reputation for excellence in each. It was ranked third
for applied mathematics, joint fourth for statistics, and joint fifth
for pure mathematics based on the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise
(RAE) 2008. It is one of the largest schools in the Faculty of Science
and currently provides around 70 postgraduates with a vibrant and
stimulating place to work. Fourteen per cent of mathematics students
were from overseas in 2011/12, one of the largest international
communities in the faculty.

Research Groups Research groups in Applied Mathematics include
dynamical systems and statistical mechanics, mathematical physics
(quantum chaos, random matrix theory, quantum information,
condensed-matter theory), fluid dynamics (complex fluids, experimental
mathematics, turbulence, waves, granular flows), materials science,
and scientific computing.

Research groups in Pure Mathematics include algebra (representation
theory of groups and algebras, homological algebra, algebraic
topology), analysis (partial differential equations and spectral
theory), ergodic theory and dynamical systems (dimension theory in
dynamical systems, dynamics of group actions, Teichmüller dynamics),
logic (set theory and the foundations of mathematics) and number
theory (algorithmic number theory, analytic number theory and
Diophantine geometry).

The Statistics group's research projects include the modelling of
random phenomena, methods for the analysis of data, and computational
techniques for performing this modelling and analysis. The
applications of this research are many and varied, ranging from the
analysis of solar flares to robot navigation, from the behaviour of
socially organised animals to traffic queues and from genetic research
to signal processing.

The Institute of Statistics, Biostatistics and Actuarial Sciences (ISBA) at the Université catholique de Louvain opens up a PhD position and a postdoc position in the framework of an Interuniversity Attraction Pole Programme (IAP-Belgian Science Policy). 

The Institute of Statistics, Biostatistics and Actuarial Sciences (ISBA,
http://www.uclouvain.be/isba) is a renowned research centre of high international reputation which offers a very stimulating working environment. Around 30 pre- and postdoctoral researchers are working under the supervision of 10 full-time professors, in a variety of fields of methodological and applied statistics, including biostatistics and actuarial sciences.

The ISBA is currently working on the IAP project ‘Developing crucial statistical methods for understanding major complex dynamic systems in natural, biomedical and social sciences’ and is searching candidates with interest and experience in:
- The study of associations and dependencies in complex systems
- The study of different dynamics in complex systems
- Multivariate modelling and hierarchically structured data
- Dynamics of a stochastic system and the impact of non-observed characteristics
- Variable and model selection and the study of (ultra-)high dimensional data

The candidate (PhD) will also be involved on a small scale into some teaching activities of the institute.

The way to AMINEF in Gedung Balai Pustaka

1. The buses which goes to Senen Bus Station all of them pass through Gedung Balai Pustaka. Especially which route is through Pasar Baru .

2. Bus Transjakarta, from Blok M you have to change the bus 2-3 times.
Way 1 : from Blok M change the bus in Dukuh Atas bus stop to the bus towards Pulogadung, then take a bus in Pramuka bus stop towards Ancol, this bus pass through Gedung Balai Pustaka. The closest bus stop (Budi Utomo) is about 800 meters from Gedung Balai .
Way 2 : From Blok M take the bus in the Harmoni Bus Stop, the bus towards Pulogadung, get down in Senen Bus Stop and walk about 800 meters, or from this bus stop take the bus towards Ancol and get down as mentioned in way 1. About the distance, this two bus stops is about the same. (It is better if you take ojek or bajaj from this bus stop to Gedung Balai Pustaka)

3. If you take taxi with old tariff (TL=Tarif Lama) from blok M with no traffic jam is about Rp. 30.000,00.

4. From Blok M use bus Patas AC 76. Gedung Balai Pustaka is in the right side, after you pass through Depag, and say to conductor "Balai Pustaka"

5. Use a busway from Blok M towards Kota, get down in Sawah Besar bus stop. From here take a Mikrolet M12 towards Senen. After cross road Wahidin and before senen get down and cross the street.

Living Cost in Germany

Living Cost in Germany is vary from city to city, but this is th case if you stay in Aachen, Germany
Student accommodation or private sharing : 180 - 230 euros per month
Food : 10 - 12 euros per day (if eating outside)
Transport for students : free within Aachen and until Koln and Dusseldorf in regional trains)

Living Cost In Austria

Living Cost in Austria is depending on the city, for example the Capital of Austria, Vienna:
- Dormitory is about 250-400 euro per month.
- Living Cost 200-400 euro per month.
- Transportation 128 euro per 4 months (student and age < 26), or 49 euro per month (ordinary)

For visa, it has to be a letter from the University/Scholl in Austria. It takes about 2-3 months.
