The NeTS research group is looking for PhD students coming from renowned universities from around the world, with a very good grade record, who have a very high interest in wireless, and multimedia communications in the Internet, and the protocols associated with it. Paramount is a desire to learn and push the limits of current technology, as well as providing new insight into today's and tomorrow's networks and services.
We are seeking for two profiles:
1. Students coming from electrical engineering, computer science or
related fields, interested in research on pervasive wireless
communications, specially those based on the IEEE 802.11 principles,
including sensor, ad-hoc, infrastructure WLANs and mesh networks, as
well as on the future Internet architectures for multimedia
communications, specially those based on distributed -P2P- principles.
2. Students interested on economical and regulatory aspects of
telecommunications technologies from communications engineering fields
and knowledge about communication markets and/or economic/regulatory
aspects. Candidates coming from social sciences areas with a ground base on telecommunications technologies will also be considered. In both cases, a motivation to interdisciplinary work oriented to understand relation among technical, economical and regulatory issues is compulsory.
There are 4 PhD competitive positions available for the 2009/2010 year.
Each position includes a 3-year grant, that covers insurance, tuition
and salary.
