The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Eligibility requirements

Candidates must:

• Be a female student enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters or PhD programme (or equivalent) in 2013/2014.
• Be enrolled at a University in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
• Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.
• Maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).

How to apply

The scholarship for 2013 is now open. The closing deadline will be 1 February 2013.

Please complete the online application and submit all requested documents by 1st February 2013. All application documents must be in English. Scholars and Finalists will be notified in April 2013.

You will be required to submit the following:

• Up-to-date copy of your CV
• Answers to the following questions (Suggested word count is 400-600 words per question. You should treat question 1 and 3 as technical reports or research papers):
  • Describe a significant technical project you have worked on. If you have worked on a major independent research project (such as research for a Master’s or PhD programme), please describe that work here. Give an overview of the problem and your approaches to the key technical challenges. If this was a group effort, be sure to specify your individual role and contributions.
  • Give one or two examples of your leadership abilities. Explain how you were influential and what you were trying to achieve. These need not be demonstrated through formal or traditional leadership roles. Feel free to think broadly and examine the many ways you impact members of your technical community.
  • Suppose someone gave you the funding and resources for a 3- to 12-month project to investigate a technical topic of your choice. Write a short version of a proposal, including a description of the project, your planned methodology, and your expected results. Please pick something other than the project you described for the first question.
• Transcripts
  • Bachelors: A copy of your current academic record.
  • Masters: A copy of your previous and current academic records.
  • Phd: A copy of your previous academic records.
• Enrollment confirmation for 2013/2014 or confirmation of graduation date
  • Please include with your application an official enrollment confirmation or a confirmation of your graduation date issued by an official authority of the university e.g. your departmental administrator or a professor.
• Recommendation letters
  • Two strong referral letters from individuals who are qualified to evaluate your academic and leadership accomplishments, e.g. from a professor, adviser or supervisor.

After submission of the online application, mandatory documents need to be uploaded through the Upload System using the same Login ID and PIN created for the online application using this link: http://adgs.kfupm.edu.sa/

Mandatory documents for application (without which application will not be processed)
* Copy of identification (National ID for Saudi nationals / Passport for international applicants / Iqama for residents of Saudi Arabia).
* Complete official transcripts for BS degree and MS degree (if applying to PhD).
* Statement-of-Purpose (a one-page essay focusing on career and research goals).
* Recommendation Letters from 3 referees through the online recommendation system after submitting the online application.

Other supporting documents (needed for final admission decision)
* Certificates for BS degree and MS degree (if applying to PhD).
* TOEFL score (min. is 68 IBT for MS and 79 IBT for PhD).
* Acceptable GRE General score (min. Quant. is 700, min. Analytical is 3.0).
* Upon approval, original/certified copies of degree certificate(s) and transcript(s) are to be sent through postal mail.

Application Deadlines
* Deadline for submitting the online application is October 29, 2010.

KAUST DISCOVERY SCHOLARSHIP - Open

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) adalah sebuah universitas berskala internasional
yang berbasis riset di bidang sains dan teknologi yang berlokasi di
Arab Saudi. KAUST menawarkan program beasiswa yang disebut KAUST
Discovery Scholarship diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa S1 dari bidang studi
sains dan teknologi di perguruan tinggi manapun di Indonesia.


Persyaratan:
- Terdaftar aktif pada tahun ajaran 2008/2009 sebagai mahasiswa S1 dari jurusan teknik dan sains;
- Memiliki
IPK minimal 3,0 (secara keseluruhan) dan minimal 3,3 (khusus untuk mata
kuliah keahlian), serta pengalaman riset yang memuaskan;
- Memiliki
kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang baik, dengan syarat: memiliki skor
minimal 550 (TOEFL®ITP atau TOEFL®PBT) atau 213 (TOEFL®CBT) atau 79-80
(TOEFL®iBT) atau 6.0 (IELTS);
- Pada
bulan Agustus 2009/2010/2011 sudah bisa memulai pendidikan S2 di King
Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Arab Saudi.

Beasiswa yang diberikan mencakup:

Selama periode kuliah S1
Seluruh biaya kuliah (SPP dan biaya lain) sampai lulus kuliah S1 dari
perguruan tinggi dimana anda sedang kuliah saat ini; Tunjangan hidup;
Tunjangan buku; Tunjangan laptop/komputer; Kesempatan berpartisipasi
dalam kegiatan-kegiatan akademik (global workshop, regional workshop,
seminar, dll) yang diadakan oleh KAUST, baik di kampus KAUST di Arab
Saudi maupun di negara lain (seluruh biaya ditanggung).

Setelah lulus kuliah S1
Diterima
untuk melanjutkan Program S2 di King Abdullah University of Science and
Technology, Arab Saudi; dan berhak atas; Beasiswa penuh yang meliputi
SPP/biaya studi, akomodasi dan tunjangan transportasi - hingga lulus.
