6 PhD Studentships
Max-Planck Research Group
The Cluster of Excellence 'Engineering of Advanced Materials (EAM)' funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Max-Planck Research Group at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, invite applications for several postdoctoral positions and PhD studentships, working on the design, fabrication, characterization and applications of photonic materials and structures.
Up to 6 PhD studentships and 4 postdoctoral research positions in
Nanostructuring of photonic materials Electromagnetic modelling & theory Metamaterials from molecules and particles Microfluidics in photonic crystal fibre ("nanolabs") Trapping and characterisation of single particles in focused laser beams Laser transport and trapping of particles in photonic crystal fibre Development and characterization of new glasses for photonics
Photonic crystal fibre fabrication Modelling the fibre drawing process
Successful applicants will join a major European research group in optics and photonics, based in extensive new laboratories, with many opportunities for national and international collaboration.
Selection of candidates will start immediately and continue until all the positions are filled.
Informal enquiries may be directed to: Frau Bettina Schwender, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Guenther-Scharowsky-Str. 1/Bau 24, D-91058 Erlangen (bschwender@optik.uni-erlangen.de, Tel: +49-9131-6877-301, Fax: +49-9131-6877-309).
