Job description
The Environmental Policy Group is an internationally leading and dynamic centre of expertise in the environmental social sciences. Theoretical and empirical research and undergraduate and post-graduate education are focused on the following themes: sustainable production and consumption; (inter)national environmental policies and politics; nature and natural resource governance. We cooperate in research and education with other disciplines from a solid disciplinary background in sociology and political sciences. The Environmental Policy Group participates in two national graduate schools, and is an active member and chair of a large number of international research networks. The group has 15 faculty members, some 35 international PhD students and annually 30-40 international master students. Recently the group has invested strongly in research and education (bachelor, master and PhD level) on marine and coastal governance. Within this latter domain there is a vacancy for a PhD candidate on the project “Informational Governance on Marine Environmental Protection: fishing and pollution from Shipping at the North Sea”. This four year project will investigate the role of information in environmental governance of economic activities at sea.
Requirements
Required education/skills:University Graduate
Master degree in sociology, political sciences, social geography or communication/information sciences; fluent in English; knowledge of marine systems; strong in social theory and methodology.

Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 2000 - 2500
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 18 moths

Additional conditions of employment:
The position of PhD is for 4 years. Appointment will be as yet for only 18 months. After a possitive assessment the contract will be continued for the duration of the promotion project.
Salary will increase from € 2000,- in the first year upto € 2558,- in the last year based on a full-time appointment.
