Power and High Voltage Research Group in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Mississippi State University (MSU) seeking research assistants with monthly stipends of $1350- $1900 starting in Summer 2008/August 2008/January 2009. Students with good academic records and research interest are encouraged to apply for Ph.D. and Masters degrees. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is the largest and one of the oldest academic units within the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU). Housed in the 95,000 square foot Simrall Building, the Department includes 28 faculty members, 12 administrative and research support staff members, and typically 650 students. The power, control and high voltage engineering group is one of the major emphasis areas within the department including 5 faculty. Located in the Simrall Building, the High Voltage Lab (HVL) is the largest independent high voltage laboratory in the U.S.
The Ph.D. and Masters research work will be related to the one of ongoing major project works related to i) Electric ship power system, ii) Wide area monitoring of electric grid, iii) Integration of distributed generation into the power grid.
