* 25th January 2008Each scholarship is jointly funded by one public sector (Research Council)and one private sector partner. The award meets the full cost of overseastuition fees and provides a maintenance stipend, which was *£12,600* perannum in 2007/08. The maintenance stipend will increase slightly for 2008/9and the exact amount will be confirmed in January 2008. PhD projects can besupported for between three and four years, subject to satisfactoryprogress.
*Qualifications applicants should have/expected to receive
*The awards are for international students. They are highly prestigious, andsuccessful candidates will be considered to have outstanding researchpotential and will hold the equivalent of a UK first class honours degree asa minimum.
*Amount of funding available and eligibility:
*There are a limited number of applications available to the Faculty ofEngineering and Physical Sciences. Due ot funding restrictions applicantsfor a DHPA must be a national of one the countries listed on the ResearchCouncils website. A Dorothy Hodgkin award cannot be held in conjunction withan Overseas Research Student Award Scheme (ORS). The award is not open toexisting postgraduate students.
